Jason’s Corner is named in honor of Jason
Cornett and his tenacious mother, Judy. On October 22, 1992, 11 year old Jason was lured into the woods
outside his Tampa neighborhood and raped by a despicable child
molester (Kevin Kinder). Since that time, Judy and Jason’s lives have changed dramatically. Judy has dedicated her life
to putting paroled sex offenders back behind bars for parole violations (see People
magazine’s July 10, 2006 edition). This site is named
in her and her son’s honor.
While I have seen people get up in arms about molesters who harm many different children or commit sickening crimes
(which they all are when they affect children), they often overlook the threat right next door! People don’t just wake
up one day and start molesting children: they often commit acts which indicate their intentions until they get a chance to
actually do it. Identifying people whose behaviors pose a threat to our children ahead of time is a big step forward in combating
child sexual abuse.
Here’s how it works: public information based upon police arrest, court documents (convictions), newspaper articles,
or tips given to this web site (via the Public Comments page) which will alert the public of potential threats to their children
will be posted here. The information is put forward not to try and convict or even accuse, but to inform. This information
is never intended for use to injure or harm anyone in anyway, especially since the Jason's Alert is based upon an arrest report,
not an actual conviction. Unverified information submitted to the Innocence Projects
web-site under the Your Voice tab will also be posted here if warranted. Examples of such would be similar reports of vehicles and/or descriptions of persons trying to lure children
away.
Jason Alert is intended to notify you when a
person has been charged with a crime against a child based upon a news report of the arrest and court documents (when available) filed
with the local magistrate as to the exact charges of the crime.
Jason Alert Update is intended to notify you
of any changes to the original charges, including dispositions such as a plea agreement or a dismissal of charges.
Jason's List is intended to give you factual
information about people who have been convicted of crimes against children. This is very important, as many people who commit
these crimes don't end up on a state or national registry for sex offenders as they plea down from the original charges. People
who corrupt the morals of our children are dangerous, not just for what they do, but also because of who and what children
become exposed to through their association with them.
