Listed below is a direct link to the web page web page for registered sex offenders
in Pa.
under Megan's Law. The purpose of this web site is this: to provide the public with free information
about registered sex offenders living in their area. You can find sex offenders by town, county, or zip code. The web site,
provided free of charge by the state police, is www.pameganslaw.state.pa.us. This takes you directly to the home page of the state police website,
and the directions are easy to follow from there. Pay attention to the tabs on the side to navigate the site to specific areas.
There is a lot of useful information on the newly improved state police website with easy to follow directions.
This web site, The Innocence Project, also serves a similar purpose, one
which I hope will be started in other communities. It is to keep the local community informed about threats to their children.
We all find out about molesters and other predators after they commit felonies against our children. But what about before
it gets to that point? Why do we have to wait until a child’s life is changed forever (as well as a parents) before
we identify the many potential threats to our children. As one police chief told me, there are far more children being abused
than is often times reported. Not all child molesters are in-your-face offenders. Furthermore, many parents realize that the
threats their children face are not just physical, but moral as well from a society that continues to sexualize children in
crass and vulgar ways; often encouraging them to put themselves into compromising situations. The intention of this web site
is to serve as a non-profit entity where parents can become informed and inform one another about threats to their children’s
physical and moral well-being. It is also intended to give people concerned about this
matter a place to communicate any information they believe the public needs to know about. The web site gives detailed instructions
on how to contact us and post a concern.
Please go to the tabs on the left hand side of this page to find out more about the Innocence
Project. This is a web site intended on making people aware of their ability to stop sexual predators. I believe we do
not have to accept sexual predators as a part of our society; that it is they, not we, who should feel uncomfortable.
You have the ability to make this happen by being informed and being a part of the solution. Thank you for visiting this site.
Now get informed, get empowered, and get involved!
