4th of July

This letter is written in the hopes that this coming 4th of July is celebrated in the context of understanding the true importance of this national holiday. “When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to separation.”

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness…….” The Declaration of Independence are not mere words penned to paper, or words to be stored as a time passed. These words carry the same essence today as they carried 233 years ago in 1776.

 

When one looks to the reasons in the Declaration of Independence for declaring our independence from the English Crown, one will look at the present climate of today’s political landscape and see some of the same governmental abuses and usurpations of the peoples unalienable Rights that were the root causes for that separation to occur. “But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security……”

 

Our Founders, in their wisdom said it is unconstitutional for the government to create debt that will be passed onto a future generation. It is also unconscionable to coin currency without intrinsic value, (Gold, Silver and other valuable metals), but, here we are, mired in a fractional banking system, (Federal Reserve), printing worthless Federal Reserve Notes on a Promise without intrinsic value, and when the debt comes due, God Help Us, as we and our children become debt slaves! Isn’t it time you stand up and tell government that enough is enough? Isn’t it time to tell politicians to get back to the Founding Principles? Isn’t it time to confront excuses, corruption unaccountability and the lack of understanding by elected officials that We, the People’s, unalienable Rights are imbedded in the Founding Documents for a reason other than their whims?

 

Stand up and join other like minded Americans and voice your desires, concerns and expectations of Government and remind them of the hallowed words so clearly stated 233 years ago. The Bloomsburg Town Park, July 4th, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm, for an American Tea Party.

 

I would like to extend a most heartfelt thank-you to Chuck Wagner, President of the Bloomsburg Town Park for designating a place in the park for the Tea Party. To those who plan on attending the Party, please consider staying over for the other events put together by Chuck Wagner and his team, and celebrate this 4th of July with a purpose. At the end of the event please be respectful of the town and the park and remove all signs and dispose of all trash. See you at 12:00 noon!

The Majority of the People may Alter or Abolish a Government Which has Become Tyrannical

Founding Principle 10

The God-given Right to Govern is vested in the Sovereign Authority of the Whole People

In the words of Thomas Jefferson:

 
“The adversaries of the Constitution seem to have lost sight of the People altogether in their reasoning’s on this subject; and to have viewed these different establishments not only as mutual rivals and enemies, but, as uncontrolled by any common superior in their efforts to usurp the authorities of each other. These gentlemen must here be reminded of their error. They must be reminded that the ULTIMATE AUTHORITY, wherever the derivative may be found, RESIDES IN THE PEOPLE ALONE. (Federalist Papers, No.46, P. 294; emphasis added.)

Founding Principle 9

To Protect Man’s Right’s, God has Revealed Certain Principles of Divine Law

 With unalienable rights come unalienable duties demanded by natural law

  1. The duty to honor the supremacy of the Creator and His laws
  2. The duty not to take the life of another except in self-defense
  3. The duty not to steal or destroy the property of another
  4. The duty to be honest in all transactions with others
  5. The duty of children to honor and obey their parents and elders
  6. The duty of parents and elders to protect, feed, clothe, and provide shelter for children
  7. The duty to support law and order and keep the peace
  8. The duty not to contrive through a covetous heart to despoil another
  9. The duty to provide insofar as possible for the needs of the helpless – the sick, the crippled, the injured, the poverty stricken
  10. The duty to honorably perform contracts and covenants with God and man
  11. The duty to be temperate
  12. The duty to become economically self-sufficient
  13. The duty not to trespass on the property or privacy of another
  14. The duty to maintain the integrity of the family structure
  15. The duty to perpetuate the race
  16. The duty not to promote or participate in the vices which destroy personal and community life
  17. The duty to perform civic responsibilities – vote, assist public officials, serve on official capacities when called upon, stay informed on public issues, volunteer where needed
  18. The duty not to aid or abet those involved in criminal or anti-social activities
  19. The duty to support personal and public standards of common decency
  20. The duty to follow rules of moral rectitude

Founding Principle 8


 
Men are Endowed by Their Creator with Certain Unalienable RightsAnd these [great natural rights] may be reduced to three principal or primary articles: The right of personal security; the right of personal liberty; and the right of private property………” William Blackstone, Commentaries on the laws of England 

 
The protection of these rights were later carried over into the constitutions of the various states. Constitution of Pennsylvania, Article 1 Section 1. All men are born equally free and independent, and have certain inherent and indefeasible rights, among which are those of enjoying and defending life, liberty, of acquiring, possessing, and protecting property and reputation, and of pursuing their own happiness.

Founding Principle 7
The Proper Role of Government is to Protect Equal Rights, Not Provide Equal Things

Be on guard that the government refrains itself from committing “Legal” crimes. The founders realized it would take the majority of the people to hold into check the government’s ability to pass laws giving it authorization to leveling the material possessions of the rich in order to have an “equal distribution of goods.” Once done, the government thereafter has the power to deprive ANY of the people of their “equal” rights to enjoy their lives, liberties and property.

Founding Principle 6

All Men are Created Equal
 

The Founders wrote in the Declaration of Independence that these truths are self evident. One of these is the fact that all men are created equal. By this they mean they are to be treated as equals in the sight of God, in the sight of the law and in the protection of their rights.

Equal justice
  • At the bar of justice, to secure their rights
  • Ballot box – to vote for the candidate of their choice
  • Public School – to obtain their education
  • The pulpit – to enjoy freedom of religion
  • The Podium – the freedom of speech
  • Meeting Hall – to peaceably assemble
  • Print shop – Freedom of the press
  • The bank – to save and prosper
  • The probate court – to pass on to their heirs the fruits of life’s labors
And so many more!
