Types of Patriotism
4.30.09 30 Seconds
Being that
today’s newspaper featured a story about pigs on the front page, I think
this is
a fitting call. During the previous two elections, in one of the two elections, the
Patriot’s
Voice held a gathering at a hall in Berwick. It was a pig roast. I would like
to know
if that was reported on their campaign finance report. They say somebody
donated
the pig. That’s an inkind donation. I want to know what that little piggy
was worth.
Talk about pork. C’mon, Patriots, come clean and submit your finance
reports
to this newspaper for publication. Thank you.
A different kid of patriot
Berwick woman
Pig? Pork? Not at any of
our events! Never was a pig roast. That pig just won’t fly! As far as your claim of being a “different kind of patriot, Berwick
woman”, that I agree wholeheartedly, you’re a patriot of the wrong kind! Your banner stripes run in mono color, black, and
it blends in nicely as you wield your dagger from the shadows and dark crevasses. The credo of your type of patriotism portrays
you as a true gutter snipe and serves to highlight the crest you bare, Nameless, Faceless and Clueless.

A Progressive's slanted views
4.17. Mr. Runyon, huh?
“Collective mindsets” can “push school
districts”? What miraculous powers! A “mindset” is a “practice”? A “private sector” is a “wrongdoing”? Let’s divine this muddle’s
meaning: “unions are stinky.” If you’re going to carp, try to be coherent. If you’re going to quote my Blog, cite it (philosleft.blogspot.com).
If you think I should be removed from my classroom, call President Soltz. He’ll tell you that American “core beliefs” include
rejecting the theo/ideological litmus test to which you’d obviously subject teachers, that the 1st amendment protects my extracurricular
speech, and that academic freedom protects my right to research and write — regardless your disapproval.

My answer:
Typical
Professor Lee, Master of deceit, spinner of her own words. This woman spins words faster than the spin cycle of a centrifuge.
Lee should go back and re-read her own words in the letter referenced and re-spin her claims.
I do not recall ever
suggesting Lee’s Constitutional rights be violated, especially her 1st Amendment right, as this is a guarantee
that the people have the opportunity to judge us, each and all on the merits of those subjects, both written and spoken.
Academic Freedom is a feather from different birds. Here
is some interesting read, http://www.rbs2.com/afree.htm , and also http://www.howies.org/Resource.Web/academicfreedom.htm. Learning about Academic Freedom will expose how ideology disposes of students and Professors with differing opinions, especially
conservative views. The Banner of Academic Freedom, (today’s take), is coupled with the resurgence of the Old Progressive
movement of the early 19th century communist philosophy, which nearly brought down the free markets in America.
The same movement, with repainted scope, that is, right now, in the process of destroying the free markets and the destruction
of American founding principals.

ideology and unionism
4/11/2009
In response to Professor
Wendy Lee’s letter 4.11.2009 I question the deception she tries to convey to the public. I question much of Lee’s rhetoric
in defense of unionism in the public arena. The current economic conditions merely point out the bad traits of a collective
mindset that has pushed many school districts, (107 at last count), to the threshold of insolvency. Sadly, the bad practice
isn’t the plight found only in public education, but, in many community governments as they struggle with making ends meet.
Ms. Lee refers to
the private sector as profound wrong doing and dereliction of duty by executives of businesses, but somehow misses the point
and difference between private sector and public sector. The bad practices in the private sector can and should lead to failure,
not coddled by government and bailed out by public funds. On the other hand the public sector can never fail, no matter how
much strain is put upon the local taxpayers to sustain the same old bad practice.
Ms. Lee also tries
to justify community conflict by the union’s position of protecting the rights and working conditions of teachers, and intentionally
fails to recognize the truth that the teacher’s rights and working conditions are already protected under current labor laws,
already on the books. Perhaps Lee thinks labor laws are merely intended for the private sector. When viewed in the full scope,
Lee’s argument really doesn’t hold water.
The real story being
pushed by Lee in support of a sister progressive, Maryann Kovalewski, which is another story for another day, and the progressive
attack of the free press, that is fair and balanced and looks at both sides of an issue and rightly allows the reader to make
up their own minds. To understand Lee’s approach one must educate themselves on just what the “progressive movement” is all
about, when it started and where it is leading.
Lee also practices
a tainted brand of “Academic Freedom”, in which she has a freedom to implant thoughts into the young susceptible minds of
our children. She says,
“I am a committed
classroom teacher and I can imagine no more satisfying an occupation than that of challenging my students' assumptions, equipping
them with critical thinking skills, and offering them new and exciting ideas about, well, everything under the Sun.” Looking
further at Ms. Lee’s stances and beliefs says an awful lot about the person.
“I am pro-choice on abortion, pro gun-control, anti capital punishment, pro science, including the overwhelming
evidence for natural selection and global climate change, pro strong environmental policies, a committed vegetarian, a feminist
and gay rights advocate, an atheist, and a mother of three sons and a daughter, and a grandmother of one grandchild. I oppose
the war in Iraq. I don't believe one whit in astrology, the existence of the soul, reincarnation,
or life after death.”
Yes Ms. Lee, I fully
understand your satisfaction of challenging students’ assumptions and offering them new and exciting ideas! The sad thing
is that the Academic Freedom tentacles are reaching beyond the higher education realm and feeling their way into the k-12
system of education and protected by the teachers union.
We, the people should
begin now in starting a taxpayers union to protect the taxpayers’ interests in public education, community, our heritage,
our traditions and our core beliefs. To do so you must understand that to challenge the system will make you hated, reviled
and tighten the belts, because when you speak the truth they will come after you! Isn’t it time we expect leadership with
a vision other than the dead end stagnant views of the present system?

Understanding Professor Wendy Lynn Lee
This
woman has gone out of her way to outright lie about and slander people who have an opinion different than hers. Being
on her most hated list makes me happy as it shows me that this Professor has a disdain for truth, and the lengths she will
go in pure fabracation to protect her ideological progresssive stance. A stance that disavows hope and leads to a dead end
path.
Perhaps, with her own words people will
see through her charade.

My commitments to social justice span both
my professional and public life, particularly with respect to issues concerning the environment, animal welfare, women's and
gay rights, academic freedom, and the promotion of the sciences. You can find me, for example, on the panel of experts for
the upcoming EcoRes E-Conference. Please feel free to request a complete publication vitae. I am a committed classroom teacher
and I can imagine no more satisfying an occupation than that of challenging my students' assumptions, equipping them with
critical thinking skills, and offering them new and exciting ideas about, well, everything under the Sun. I am pro-choice
on abortion, pro gun-control, anti capital punishment, pro science, including the overwhelming evidence for natural selection
and global climate change, pro strong environmental policies, a committed vegetarian, a feminist and gay rights advocate,
an atheist, and a mother of three sons and a daughter, and a grandmother of one grandchild. I oppose the war in Iraq.
I don't believe one whit in astrology, the existence of the soul, reincarnation, or life after death.
