I
would like to thank Mr. Sachetti for his eye opening editorial of 2.26.09 about the excessive pay raise by the Berwick Area
School Board, but, it is far from the complete truth. In these economic hard times it is actions like these that should draw
the ire of the good citizens of all area school districts. It is the very hard times we are facing that should, by now, have
us all taking off the blinders and looking at the records of those holding positions that dole out and those that feed off
the publics wealth.
You,
the voting taxpayers are the only ones who hold the power to make the decision that enough is enough. The Patriot’s Voice
has given you the opportunity to elect people to school boards that saw the current economic conditions on the horizon. People
who understood that to make the changes that are needed you must have a majority on the board. In Benton, Evy Lysk, Berwick,
Rebecca Heller and Northwest, Robert Hagenbauch, who have worked their butts off to try to enact real change and gave you,
the taxpayer a view of how your tax dollars are squandered and abused by a majority of incompetent boobs, and the Berwick
Area School District can serve as a poster child in that respect.
The
Patriot’s Voice will no longer be running candidates for open board seats, so you the taxpayers need to select those whom
you feel will fight for the needed changes and if they truly run for real change we will offer to stand the polls and pass
out handouts for your choices, but in Berwick you have to realize what your choices will have to go through.
You
have to come to grips with the fact that the Berwick Area School District is the areas’ prime political
hub. Expect the unexpected! Prepare to have your candidates marginalized, slandered and lied about, and expect to have your
poll workers openly and publicly harassed. Am I right Maryann?
Understand
that they will do whatever needs to be done to retain their majority. They will show you the real meaning of “it’s for the
children.” Expect issues to arise that they will use to turn the kiddies mommies and daddies into “foam at the mouth with
rage” directed towards your candidates.
Come to grips with the fact that years ago the District was prostituted and lies firmly in bed
with the teachers union. Try to think back to the last year they had any semblance of a negotiated contract. If they deem
your candidates a real threat, the union will make a comparable list, (yours and theirs), and it will be in the teachers mailboxes
within hours with the expectation of whom to vote for. Teachers will send information home with students with lies about your
candidates and ask them not to vote for you. If your candidates are a serious threat, they will pull out all the stops.
The
current raise + for the non-union workers wasn’t about hard work. It was all about the vote, a couple of months away from
the May primaries. Another vote getting issue will be the turf for the football field. Last time it was the scoreboard. Remember?
If
you can put together serious candidates for change e-mail me Robert@the-patriot-s-voice.org and I will help you prepare. After all, aren’t you tired of rewarding incompetence, excuses and bad behavior? Either way,
we will continue to work for accountability and responsibility for an out of control system. Taxpayers, these are hard times.
You need to get together and stick together. The choice is yours. Good Luck! You’ll need it!
Sincerely,
Robert
Runyon
