America is in its 233rd year as a nation. The nation’s growth for 200 of those years has
come from self reliant, independent people with a view of individualism at its core, who have had the courage and the drive
to make changes in America and American
ideals in a capitalist society.
These were those who
have transpired the nation and brought about changes that affect every household in America. They have done things such as, communications, from written to the electronic
age, from tapping out messages across a wire to instant communication over wire and through the air. From Morse code to radio,
television, telephone, personal computers, the internet, I-pods and oh so much more on the horizon.
These were Americans
with a view of individualism, which accepted the challenges of failure and adversity, and refused to acknowledge the conceived
notion that it just couldn’t be done. Without individualism America
would be a much different nation.
Could you envision
a nation that tested children by aptitude and directed them through education to work fields connected to those tests. Could
you envision an education official calling you into their office to tell you your child, in kindergarten, was tested and found
to have an aptitude towards being a great surgeon or scientist, or worse, an aptitude towards being nothing more than a common
laborer?
Further still, could
you envision a state, who through business, industry and government, forecast the future of needed members to their workforce
and passed a mandated workforce education act that would require schools to seek out prospective students with an aptitude
leaning towards the projected workforce needs and construct their curriculum of their learning years to fulfill one of those
slots? Yet, could you envision government of the state, for the state and by the state?
This sounds a familiar
ring of a page out of history from the former Soviet Union doesn’t it? Sadly, we are rapidly
becoming witness to these events right here in this great nation, These United States of America.
